Baby Mama

baby mama

The first time director Michael McCullers sets out to create a comedy in baby mama which looks at the life of a corporate executive called Kate (Tina Fey) who is in her thirties and rather than have a family she has concentrated on her career but now she wants a baby. This is easier said than done however as she has no boyfriend so she visits a sperm donor centre but when she doesn't conceive Kate goes to the doctors to find out what's going wrong.

Kate is told that she cant have children, so she then looks into adopting however this process she is told can take up to a couple of years., not wanting to wait this long Kate finds a surrogacy centre where she is told that some one else will be able to have her baby along as she pays for this service.

This is where a younger married woman (Amy Poehler) steps into help. Kate and the younger woman get on for a while but it all comes crashing down when the younger woman tells Kate that the baby in her stomach isn't kate's but rather hers and her husbands.

Overall the movie sounds good but from the weak lines given to the characters baby mama doesn't give many laughs as maybe it should. Other bad points in the movie can also be put down to this such as Steve Martin's silly and unfunny character. With a strong cast like this movie has it should have done better.

Mytvtalk.com awards Baby Mama with 2 stars out of 5.
