Before the Devil Knows You're dead
Before the Devil Knows You're dead follows two brothers Hank (Hawk) and his bigger brother Andy (Hoffman) who bullies Hank into making a decision that will ruin all of their lives. Andy suggests that Hank and himself should rob their parents jewellery store in which Andy describes as a 'victimless' crime. Hanks isn't happy about doing this but is bullied into doing it by Andy.
When the actual robbery goes down though things get messed up very quickly and we are shown the robbery right at the begin of the film and then the days leading up to the robbery are shown in flashback from for all of the main characters. We find out that both Andy and Hank are middle aged men who are looking to change their lives, Andy wants to live the rich live by moving to Brazil while Hank wants the money to pay his child support to keep his ex wife off his back.
This movie has sought of a 'Memento' feel to it with the mixed up flashbacks which eventually all fit together to show what as really happened, at which point you realise the ending isn't going to be good for any one in this movie.
This isn't a film that will go down in movie history as one of the greats or even the most memorable but I think it's still a movie that's worth watching. I award before the Devil Knows you're Dead 3 out of 5 stars.
