cloverfield monster revealed

Leading up to this film I was excited by the fact that I had no idea what was going on in this film, even he movie trailer which without the MPAA beginning you wouldn't realise it's a movie trailer. The story is simple it's about a bunch of 20/30 year olds throwing a party for one of their friends who is moving out to Japan to work in his new job but The festivities are rudely interrupted when something explodes downtown and decapitates the Statue of Liberty. It's a sequence that horrifies more than a simple monster arrival should, particularly since we haven't seen him yet.

The partygoers decide to go up to the roof of their building to see if they can see anything from the roof top, whilst their up there another building explodes throwing shrapnel their way. As the movie goes on the partygoers realise that there is some huge monster smashing and tearing its way through Manhattan New York.

The whole movie is seen through a hand held camera as the whole incident is been recorded by one of the partygoers known as Hud(T J Miller) who becomes our eyes for the most part of the movie. Although I have heard people complaining about the shakiness of the camera and the disorienting effect it has on the viewer I would have to disagree, and can only say this effect adds to the viewing pleasure of this movie. Not only does the digital camera make the viewer feel a part of the action but it also leads to the mystery of what the Cloverfield monster really is.

This film is Cleary written and designed to be viewed by the YouTube Generation but that's not saying the older viewer won't enjoy it to. We live in a time when global violence is recorded not by professionals, but by shaky-handed bystanders with camera phones, this is why I think Cloverfield works, for the type of movie it is I can't imagine seeing this in a normal Hollywood Viewing mode as it probably wouldn't have the effect that it currently has.

Now for Mytvtalk.com No BS Movie Review Rating.

There will undoubtedly be those who don't enjoy it, and some who will complain because of the camera motion sickness that they may feel. Some viewers may feel as if the characters don't have any depth but then you must remember this isn't the typical Hollywood story and it's just about a group of friends saying goodbye to another friend when a huge monster attacks.

I can say you have never experienced anything like Cloverfield, and that is why this movie is a must see and gains itself an excellent 5/5 movie review. Now bring on the sequel!
