Meet Dave

When the planet Nil is in danger of becoming wiped out, the inhabitants only hope is to steal resources from the planet Earth which will lead to the destruction of earth in the process. The two inch tall inhabitants of the planet Nil arrive on the planet earth in a space ship which resembles their captain (Eddie Murphy). Not long after arriving on earth the people inside the space ship start to enjoy human beings lifestyles, which leads to romance and mutiny on board.

The idea for the movie is clever, but the actual execution of it isn't. It's as if the film makers gave the cast a vague script and wanted them but mostly Murphy to produce the goods which he does in some ways but sadly isn't enough to save the movie.

Once again this is a 'comedy' movie that tries to be funny by relying on bodily fluid jokes or harsh slapstick moments. Most of the movie resorts to these sort of tactics but there is a small sequence in the movie that looks very good and is well acted out, the sequence i'm talking about his when 2 inch tall Murphy and Gabrielle Union try to cross a busy American street to get back to their space ship without getting crushed, this isn't enough to save the movie though.

Mytvtalk.com has watched many comedies similar to Meet Dave which rely on jokes that are not funny to any one except maybe the writers and producers, and the lack of effort that has gone into the script really shows. Meet Dave is a very good idea that went very wrong, Mytvtalk.com awards Meet Dave 2 stars out of 5.
