Just two months after the report that Michael Rosenbaum wouldn't be returning to Smallville to reprise his role as Lex Luthor there was news that Clark would be facing two new villains Doomsday and Tess Mercer. For those not familiar with the comics doomsday is a huge monster that killed superman in the comics, an image of the monster can be seen below
Tess Mercer is said to be a beautiful but vengeful woman who is looking after Lex Luthor's estate as he is lost and presumed dead. However if this isn't enough for young Clark Kent to look out for the producers have added another super villain into the mix. Another female villain called Maxima will be appearing on Smallville. Maxima in the DC universe is an alien just like Clark who comes to earth, she however is searching for a soul mate and when Clark/Superman wants nothing to do with her and then all hell breaks loose.
Maxima will be played by Charlotte Sullivan who starred in MVP (Hockey Soap)
