In the Valley Of Elah
Starring Tommy Lee Jones, Charlize Theron
Review by Mytvtalk.com
This movie is brought to you by the same people that brought us the excellent movie 'Crash' so knowing this I was expecting this movie to be good, however as the movie continued to play out I knew this wasn't the case.
The story follows a young adult who has just come back from a tour of Iraq but has gone AWOL. Retired military man Hank (Tommy Lee Jones) father of the absent soldier gets a phone call explaining that his son has gone missing, so Hank sets out to find his son. Hank is then notified by the army that his son has been murdered, with the help of a local cop (Theron) the two investigate the murder trying to find out who is responsible.
Hank manages to smuggle his sons phone out from the military base and from the media left on the phone we get to see some clips that were taken over in Iraq and we find out the type of person hank's son was. With not going to much into detail but with one of the clips we get to see hank's son was an A$$ hole that liked to pretend he was a medic and used to cause the prisoners of war more pain by sticking his fingers into their wounds and also putting stickers on the heads of dead bodies. With the character being this much of a dick I couldn't help but not care for why he was murdered, i'm not saying he deserved to die but as from a story point of view I just didn't care.
Now for Mytvtalk.com honest rating
Other critics are raving about this movie saying that Tommy Lee Jones deserves an Oscar for his amazing performance however i'm not convinced and the only reason that I could see him getting an Oscar is the fact that he didn't fall asleep in this boring movie. In the Valley of Elah is a boring movie that I just wanted to end so I could get out of the cinema. Mytvtalk.com awards this movie 2 out of 5 stars.
